New Jersey Devils forward Timo Meier has post-season surgery on his shoulder
New Jersey Devils leading scorer Timo Meier has had elective arthroscopic surgery on his shoulder. The Devils said Meier had the surgery on Tuesday, eight days after their highly-anticipated season ended without a playoff berth. The procedure was performed by Dr. Jonathan L. Glashow and Dr. Guillem Gonzalez-Lomas, the team said without noting which shoulder was worked on.

Arizona Coyotes' move to Utah dashes hopes of NHL return to Hartford
News of the Arizona Coyotes' relocation plans for Salt Lake City, Utah ended the slim hopes Gov. Ned Lamont and Hartford Whalers fans had bringing an NHL team back to Hartford. ESPN reported that the NHL is moving the Coyotes to Salt Lake City to become a new franchise. Ryan and Ashley Smith of Smith Entertainment Group bought the team and its existing hockey assets for $1.2 billion from Alex Meruelo, ESPN reported.

General manager Tom Fitzgerald is looking for a new coach for the New Jersey Devils and interim skipper Travis Green remains in the running for the job. Speaking three days after the Devils ended a disappointing season by missing the playoffs, Fitzgerald said he hopes to have a full-time coach in place for the NHL draft in late June. “Travis is well aware of my intentions,” Fitzgerald said Thursday.

Dougie Hamilton, who missed the last 62 games of the season following surgery for a torn left pectoral muscle Dec. 1, said he may have been able to return if the Devils had qualified for the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
